What degrades scientifically literate way of thinking?

Values, which are ideologically, politically, religiously, esoterically biased or deformed through “euphemistic linguistics” are simply undermining our ability to act rationally in solving our present and future challenges. Even if we assume to be rational and scientifically literate, susceptibility to mentioned values greatly disturbs objective analysis and narrows our thinking horizon, pushing us to cherry-pick information, even unconsciously, and to make many argumentative and logical fallacies in the process. A person who claims to be rational should not equate to the system of values which is valid for a specific social group, movement or to blindly support empty, pseudoscientific and cherry-picked claims.
